Prime Minister Kevin Rudd has urged everyone to wash their hands as thermal-imaging cameras were installed at Australia's international airports to scan travellers for possible symptoms of the deadly swine flu.

Airport arrivals will now also have to fill in compulsory health declarations but Mr Rudd said prevention had to start with individuals, who have been urged "to engage in the simple practice of washing their hands with soap on a regular basis".
