A recent conference of "revisionist" French historians who claim that at the battle of Agincourt:
... the extent of the feat of arms was massively exaggerated, with claims that the English were hugely outnumbered a lie.
More controversially still, they will say that the foreign invaders used numerous underhand tactics against an honourable enemy.
These included burning prisoners to death and setting 40 bloodthirsty royal bodyguards on to a single Gallic nobleman who had surrendered.
has frankly got up the nose of the Mild Colonial Boy.
These claims can be only responded to by any Red-Blooded Briton in the following way:

Henry V is my favourite play, and that is my favourite scene. Kenneth Branagh has gone on to do some fairly wanky "interprative" versions of The Bard, but that performance is brilliant.
The French certainly have no cause to go and get uppity about Agincourt. I was in France a few years ago in my single and carefree days. Whilst I was there I became (ahem) aquainted with a young French lady. It was a fairly sweet deal for a young Australian backpacker. I got free accomodation, tour guide, translator, and well, other stuff. One day we went to the palace at Versailles. There were walls full of glorious French martial paintings. I made the comment that there seemed to be some missing. When she responded in surprise, I said "There doesn't seem to be any of Agincourt, Trafalgar, Vitoria, Waterloo, or anything from 1914 or 1940." The response was not positive. I had to do some very fast talking not to be catching the train all by myself.
Quite correct. The only words an Englishman needs to say to a Frenchman are : Crecy, Poitiers, Agincourt, Trafalgar, Waterloo etc. and need we mention the shame of Vichy ?
And let us also remind the ungrateful French swine of such little things as the Battle of the Somme - Pozières, Fromelles etc.
